MicroCMS Platforms - That You'll love

  • 1
MicroCMS , Top ten CMS ,

MicroCMS seems a tread now , every once in a while you'll see a new Content management System (CMS) growing out of nowhere giving competition to the big beasts . Many will surely agree with Wordpress as the best CMS . But I wholeheartedly disagree, and here's why.
Creating a beautiful, effective and efficient website is an art — a delicate mix of structure, design and content. You might think you know what’s best for your own website, but unless you have the talent and know-how to create the “delicate mix” of these things, you probably don’t and you shouldn’t assume that you do. WordPress (including frameworks, themes and plugins) allows anyone to make and act on that assumption very easily which is a problem in my opinion and potentially injustice to an art form.

Getting back to the MicroCMS trend , I've notices a couple of sites gaining up on this trend .

Anchor

Anchor is one of the oldest MircoCMS's I have come across , unlike it the others ( down below ) , Achor gives you a subtle IDE for posting , yeah just like wordpress . The best feature of using Anchor is , that it supports HTML and CSS along with PHP , that is you can code entirely in HTML or PHP or both , wordpress doesn't give you that option .
Anchor is a super-simple,lightweight blog system, madeto let you just write.
Anchor is open source and is available for free. I think it's the most prominent choice .

Koken

Koken is the next best thing after Anchor , it has a great media management system , which is at par than that of Wordpress , Squarespace or any other CMS's .
Koken is a free system designed for photographers, designers, and creative DIYs to publish independent websites of their work.
What Koken does is allow you to download a small .zip file from their website, uncompress it, place it onto your server space, and get to setting up your website. Koken has much more control over settings than the other two CMSes I’ll be looking at, but the fact it’s more media-rich would be a good reason for such implementations of user-controlled parameters.
Koken is free and already out for download.

Upcoming MicroCMS

leeflets

It is currently in Development , and will be releasing in April 2013 , yes it's close ! According to Jason Schuller's blog post , Leaflets is a simplestic platform for creating and maintaing minimal websites .Leeflets might not be the end-all or be-all of website solutions, but that’s kind of the point and I think it has some serious promise for those looking for something different. Leeflets has purpose, personality and is being built specifically with “simplicity” in mind.

Thoughts

All the above services metioned are free of cost . MicroCMS has a quite bright future , at present many support Markdown for writing the posts . I would normally prefer an environment for writing stuff , it does ease the workload . I've given quite a soapbox speech here , so now it's your turn , what are your comments on this . If you are using one right now , feel free to post a link here .
